Idaho Workforce Development Task Force to Meet June 7

Months of presentations, discussions and meetings will culminate as the Governor’s Workforce Task Force drafts final recommendations at its meeting Wednesday, June 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. MT.

The meeting takes place at Boise State University, Micron Business and Economics Building, 2360 W. University Drive (corner of Capitol Boulevard and University Drive) in the Williams Boardroom, room 4201, on the fourth floor.

The team’s ultimate goal is to recommend solutions to Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter for funding and delivering a skilled workforce for Idaho. At Wednesday’s meeting, the team will review findings from previous meetings to set priorities, suggest funding options, establish return on investment and seek additional input for its final report.

Otter established the Workforce Development Task Force in January 2017 to encourage increased engagement among Idaho business and industry, the legislature, education and economic development organizations in decision-making and priority setting for workforce training. Task members represent employers in health care, aerospace, food processing, natural resources, advanced manufacturing, energy and construction. Members also include legislators and educators.

The task force will review the final report at its last meeting June 26.
