Primary Purpose
Responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of the College of Science & Engineering (CoSE) Information Technology (IT) infrastructure. Some evening, weekend and on-call duties are required for off-hours maintenance and emergency support of University systems.

Key Responsibilities
Manage College of Science & Engineering (CoSE) Information Technology (IT) staff and resources:
1.     Coordinates staffing needs and professional development; designs, implements and oversees team member training programs; manages and guides staff resources, including hiring, training, development and discipline; conducts performance evaluations; communicates and enforces departmental and university policies and procedures.
2.    Develops strategic goals and plans for their implementation; establishes long term business plans and short-term operational objectives. Participates in the ongoing analysis and design of support systems and models and provides technical direction and guidance on projects impacting end-users and client support systems.
3.    Manages the creation and utilization of internal and external documentation
4.    Responsible for overall management and administration including development and maintenance of support tools including the ticket tracking system.
5.    Tracks and maintains all new and existing software licenses used in CoSE; Assists in tracking utilization and software negotiations for software licensing purchases.  
6.     Provides advice to departments and labs on technology purchases. Works closely with technical support staff and systems administrators to identify and project trends, and new procedures for supporting clients.
7.     Responsible for knowing and applying IT security best practices.
8.      Works collaboratively with other IT teams across the organization to provide support notices, information, etc.
9.     Participates in various committees as requested; represents ITS and ISU in local, state, and national professional organizations. Maintains current technological expertise through self-study, and attending seminars and conferences.
Responsible for the following support areas:
(A) IT desktop support
(B) CoSE Computer Labs management
(C) CoSE Infrastructure and Servers
(D) CoSE Web Presence

Minimum Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree in related field and/or combination of related education and experience.

1. Full time experience working in an Information Technology/computing environment
2. Excellent analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
3. Solid communication and documentation skills
4.  Linux, Windows, and Mac desktop/server administration experience.  
5.  Experience with managing and implementing virtualization technologies

Preferred Qualifications
1. Prior experience as an Information Technology systems administrator.
2. Prior experience working in a higher education environment.
