SPECIAL NOTIFICATION:  This position is exempt from classified state service and the rules of the Division of Human Resources and the Idaho Personnel Commission.

THE OPPORTUNITY: Serves as Secretary of the Commission as required by Section 72-504 Idaho Code. The Commission Secretary provides direct administrative clerical support to the Commission and the Director. The Secretary liaises between the Commission and its various stakeholders and constituencies and is commonly the primary point of contact for the agency. The Commission Secretary also has responsibility for responding to inquiries made to the Commission by the Idaho Legislature, Governor’s office, and other governmental entities. The Secretary takes a lead role in assisting the Commission in the adoption and amendment of its rules. The Commission Secretary shall perform such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Industrial Commission.



  • Good knowledge of: Computer applications; office support functions including word processing; filing; composing a variety of business documents; proper language and punctuation; legal terminology; medical terminology; organizational awareness; teamwork; and researching, compiling, and summarizing data for reports.
  • Experience: Public relations; interpreting, applying and explaining complex information such as regulations, policies, or services; composing official correspondence, reports, and other complex documents; using dictation/transcription equipment; digital transcription; taking minutes; providing administrative support to an administration, director, or senior staff member(s); coordinating events; independently solving problems/performing liaison activities in a work setting; coordinating activities requiring complex arrangements; using Microsoft Excel to compile and analyze data; and using Microsoft Word at the advanced level.
  • Ability to type at the rate of 60 words per minute.


  • Good knowledge of the State of Idaho rule making process. 
  • Some knowledge of the Industrial Commission and its administrative and judicial responsibilities.
