Primary Purpose
Teach courses in the areas of Graphic Design, Print and Digital Publishing, and Interactive Design, while maintaining an active program of academic research and/or creative activity.

Key Responsibilities
Teach the Graphic Design courses within the Visual Communication major emphasis, including Introduction to Graphic Design, Advanced Graphic Design, Typography & Layout, and Illustration; oversee the development of majors within the emphasis; and assist with the completion of the department’s transition to digital and interactive design. The successful candidate must demonstrate a record of both creative and professional experience in the field of Graphic Design.

Minimum Qualifications
MFA or Ph.D. (ABD with confirmed completion date before August 2018 may be considered), evidence of the ability to contribute to the existing curriculum in Visual Communication on both an undergraduate and graduate levels, and experience using and/or teaching the Adobe CC suite of software.  The candidate must also provide evidence of the ability to maintain an active record of research or creative activity.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. or MFA in Design, Visual Communication, or a related field who can teach and produce in one or more of the following areas: interactive design; designing for print, web, and digital outlets; corporate and advertising design; user experience design; package design; branding; information design; or social design. Preference will also be given to candidates with online or hybrid teaching experience, as well as those with professional experience.
