Primary Purpose
Serves as a health sciences librarian and library bibliographer for designated health sciences departments and their affiliated programs. Performs collection development and selects materials for these areas. Provides reference assistance and library instruction primarily for health sciences area, and secondarily for all other subject areas. Teaches an online course on Information Literacy. Adaptable to varying patron needs and expectations. Reports to the Associate University Librarian for Research and Learning Services.

Key Responsibilities
A.    In cooperation with relevant colleagues participates in professional activities such as applying for grants, developing outreach efforts, maintaining relationships with the ISU Kasiska Division of Health Sciences, liaising with the National Library of Medicine, maintaining IHSL LibGuides, developing appropriate working relationships with area librarians, etc.
B.    Teaches in-person and online individual, classroom and group instruction in evidence based practice, library services and procedures, search strategies, and the use of information resources. Primary emphasis areas are in health sciences subjects; secondary emphasis areas include all other subjects.
C.    May teach online sections of the undergraduate LLIB1115 Information Literacy three credit course.
D.    Provides reference service. Assists faculty, students, staff and other users on a one-on-one basis by answering specific information requests, offering research assistance, and guiding users in the effective use of information resources provided by the Library.
E.    Works cooperatively on collection development, for both the Idaho Health Sciences Library and the University Library.
F.    Serves as a bibliographer to designated health science academic. Assists in collection development and evaluation; monitors pertinent portions of the acquisitions budget; works to develop and maintain good relations with faculty members. Performs collection assessments, as needed, for accreditation studies.
G.    Serves on various University and Library committees.
H.    Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
•    M.L.S. or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills
•    Strong interpersonal skills
•    Demonstrated ability to teach
•    Demonstrated ability to work independently and in groups

Preferred Qualifications
•    Undergraduate degree in life or health sciences or experience working in a health sciences library
•    Knowledge of Evidence Based Practice
•    Collection development experience
•    Ability and interest in learning new technologies
•    Knowledge of learning management systems such as Moodle, Blackboard, or Canvas

Salary has been approved at $59,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
