Primary Purpose
The Department of Biological Sciences at Idaho State University has openings for 2 full-time tenure-track faculty positions in Microbiology at the level of Assistant Professor, this posting will be used to fill both.  Perform the duties expected of a tenure-track faculty member including teaching undergraduate and advanced graduate courses in microbiology, conducting an active research program in medical microbiology and biomedical sciences, applying for and securing extramural funding, publishing and presenting research findings, advising students, training and mentoring graduate students, assisting with recruitment of new undergraduate and graduate students and participating in various service activities at the Departmental, College and University levels.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching 5-8 credit hours per semester of undergraduate and graduate courses in the microbiology and biomedical sciences curriculum. Conducting an active research program in medical microbiology and biomedical sciences, applying for and securing extramural funding, publishing and presenting research findings, advising students, training and mentoring graduate students, assisting with recruitment of new undergraduate and graduate students and participating in various service activities at the Departmental, College and University levels.

Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate degree in Microbiology or a related discipline. Evidence of excellence in teaching. Demonstrated experience in college-level teaching in the microbiology and biomedical science disciplines. Effective teaching of small and large enrollment courses, inquiry-based laboratory courses. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff. Excellent written and spoken English, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Postdoctoral experience. Evidence of leadership skills and service to profession. Demonstrated capacity to engage in research and develop collaborative research activities. Evidence for future success in engaging graduate students in research.
