Division of Veterans Services - Caring for America's Heroes

This announcement will be used to fill a part-time vacancy (approximately 20 hours per week) at the State Veterans Home in Pocatello.  

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates religious and volunteer programs for a Department or institutional facility
  • Surveys religious needs
  • Establishes standards, policies, and procedures and evaluates program performance
  • Arranges programs and services such as study groups, prayer meetings; education classes and religious counseling to be provided by visiting religious workers
  • Provides religious counseling to residents/inmates
  • Maintains contact with families of residents/inmates
  • Serves as a liaison with community organizations and churches
  • Plans and implements a program to recruit, train, place and supervise volunteer workers
  • Analyze work sites for volunteer placement

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Some knowledge of: management practices; needs of institutionalized residents or incarcerated individuals and their families.
  • Good knowledge of: religious theory and thought; various religious denominations and their beliefs and practices; theory and methods of religious counseling.
  • Experience: planning, developing, evaluating, and maintaining religious and volunteer programs; recruiting and training volunteers.
