  • Develops volunteer services goals and objectives.
  • Plans and implements a program to recruit, select, and place volunteer workers.
  • Acts as liaison between staff and volunteers.
  • Interacts with staff to identify new and emerging programs where volunteers could enhance and expand the impact of these programs.
  • Plans and implements volunteer recognition events to maintain an enthusiastic and active volunteer team.
  • Mediates between staff and volunteers to resolve grievances and promote cooperation and interest.
  • Creates and maintains records to track volunteer related statistics.
  • Works with the Talking Book Service (TBS) team to select relevant books and magazines of local interest, to be recorded and distributed to print-impaired patrons of Idaho.
  • Supervises, evaluates and trains volunteers in all operations of recording studio which includes; operation and maintenance of recording equipment, interpretation and use of National Library Service (NLS) Standards for book and magazine mastering, final correction and quality check of completed recording projects. Constructs digital talking books from completed recordings, schedules recording and reviewing volunteers.
  • Attends and utilizes training in subject matter relevant to volunteer coordination and audio-book production. 
  • Maintains communication and information sharing with other volunteer coordinators from the other Talking Book Regional Libraries and the NLS.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: planning, developing, and maintaining programs to utilize volunteer workers; utilizing community resources for recruitment of volunteers; supervising volunteers including interviewing, selection, and performance evaluation; training volunteer workers; maintaining program records; preparing and giving oral presentations to groups.

The following is not required, but may increase your score on the examination:

  • Some experience in the use of professional recording studio software and equipment.
