 Department: Early Learning Center 
Position is Limited Service, Full-time, 9 month yearly contract

Responsibilities:

  • Provides child care and instruction in a child care center
  • Plans and prepares developmentally-appropriate activities
  • Monitors, observes, assesses, and interacts with children
  • Cares for the physical needs of children including feeding, diapering, toileting, dressing, and administering medications
  • Maintains attendance, meal, and activity records
  • Communicates with parents orally and in writing concerning needs, progress, and behavior of children.
  • Primary responsibility for the aides and volunteers in the classroom.  Provides training, orientation and evaluation of student staff each semester or on an “as needed” basis, including an introduction to the Strengthening Families protective factors framework.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have some knowledge of normal development of children from six weeks to preschool age; methods used to teach pre-school children basic skills.
  • Must have experience reading and understanding written instructions.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation.
  • City Child Care Provider license required upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for children from six weeks to age five.
  • Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or higher preferred
