The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has a current opportunity for a Therapist - Speech and Language Pathologist. This position will provide Speech and Language services to the Southwest Idaho Treatment Center (SWITC). SWITC is an ICF/ID residential facility for the intellectually and developmentally disabled.

This position requires licensure (or provisional licensure) a speech-language pathologist (SLP) in Idaho. Applicants who have specialized training or at least one year of experience treating persons with developmental disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applicants will be required to pass a criminal background investigation after a conditional offer of employment. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is a drug-free workplace. Any applicant offered employment in this position with our Department will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test.

  • Provides multifaceted speech and language services, including evaluation, monitoring, consultation and direct therapy services to adolescents and adults with developmental, physical and mental disabilities, which may or may not be linked to established medical conditions. 
  • Consults with and provides information and/or instruction to parents, guardians and treatment staff regarding disabilities and remedial procedures. 
  • Conducts individual and group therapy assessments.
  • Participates in treatment planning and consultation with multidisciplinary teams. 
  • Develops and implements individualized speech programs as part of a client's PCP
  • Provides training and information to staff related to dysphagia and swallowing as it relates to client needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensure as a speech-language pathologist in accordance with Idaho Code 54-2913 or provisional permit in accordance with Idaho Code 54-2919.
