The Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections' mission is to reduce juvenile crime in partnership with communities, through prevention, rehabilitation and reintegration.

The District Liaisons provide information and services to county juvenile probation departments, legislators and county elected officials, school district officials, and the community.. These relationships are essential to the success of juvenile justice programs.  The Liaisons assist in developing alternative interventions, prevention, and diversion programs to keep youth from being committed to state custody and to speed the transition back to the community after treatment. They facilitate the development of county and community juvenile corrections planning coalitions. District Liaisons analyze and make recommendations to address a variety of complex cases and issues.

District Liaisons function independently and are located in districts consisting of four to ten counties each. They provide guidance in implementing the department's balanced approach philosophy in juvenile corrections incorporating community safety, offender accountability and competency skill development. 

This position requires frequent travel throughout many of Idaho's southwestern counties - Ada, Boise, Elmore and Valley.

This announcement will be used to fill the current openings in the Boise office only.

A criminal history background investigation will be conducted on the incumbent of this position.

The Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections is a drug free work environment.  Immediately after a conditional offer of employment has been extended to an applicant (before 5:00 p.m. of the day of the offer), he or she must test free of drugs as a condition of employment.

NOTE:  Interviews are tentatively scheduled for November 3 - 7 in Boise.

Primary Purpose:

  • Coordinate and provide district-wide juvenile corrections liaison services to county-based programs
  • Support formulation and implementation of state juvenile corrections plan
  • Perform related work


  • Provide program and technical liaison/consultation on juvenile corrections matters to department and county staff, local and state elected officials, judges, juvenile corrections facilities and community coalition groups
  • Consult with and facilitate development of county and community juvenile corrections planning coalitions
  • Coordinate training to the district, county and community
  • Collect research data and review JCA funds and tobacco tax program implementation
  • Conduct needs assessments and consumer surveys
  • Represent the department on various committees
  • Monitor and coordinate regional juvenile corrections resources to ensure juveniles receive appropriate type and level of services
  • Provide information on available program resources
  • Assist in developing service providers
  • Prepare management reports on resource allocation and utilization

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Experience providing program and technical liaison/consultation on juvenile corrections matters to department and county staff, local and state elected officials, judges, juvenile corrections facilities and community coalition groups, 
  • Experience developing and presenting public/business presentations and providing public relations activities for business or public organizations,
  • Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.  Frequent travel is required throughout many of Idaho's counties
