Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) seeks an enthusiastic and motivated leader (Project Manager 1) in our Headquarters GARVEE Program Office. Our team is looking for someone with a strong background in transportation who works well in a culture that promotes innovation and collaboration. The selected candidate must be a self-starter and be able to work independently to achieve goals.

The GARVEE Transportation Expansion Program has dedicated funding to complete critical infrastructure improvements and directly contribute to ITD’s mission. This position will be responsible for managing projects on US-95 north of Coeur d’Alene in Kootenai and Bonner counties and on I-84 in Canyon County.

This is a classified position and is estimated to last 3-5 years, depending upon funding and workload. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in a program where you can contribute and build your skills and be exposed to many new aspects of project and program delivery.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop project goals, work plans, timelines, implementation strategies;
  • Administer agreements and contracts on behalf of ITD;
  • Manage scope, schedule and budget to ensure successful project delivery;
  • Provide information for and monitor program controls;
  • Build consensus and foster open communication with inter-departmental personnel, other agencies, peers and supervisors.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and administering contracts;
  • Experience in managing transportation projects including developing scope, goals, work plans, timelines, implementation strategies, and evaluation methods for assessing progress toward goals and project outcomes;
  • Experience interpreting and explaining specialized or complex material into information usable by the public.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Good understanding of civil engineering practices;
  • Good understanding of project management principles;
  • Solid understanding of state and federal law and regulation, as it relates to transportation projects.
