DEQ is committed to protecting human health and preserving the quality of Idaho's air, land, and water for use and enjoyment today and in the future.

The DEQ State Office is filling a position for a Technical Editor. This position is responsible for the agency's technical and outreach editing needs.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Edit technical documents: work closely with analysts, scientists, engineers, and other technical staff to help communicate complex ideas in a way the public can understand.
  • Edit outreach/web material and news release.
  • Post content to DEQ internet and intranet sites: responds to requests from programs and regions for web postings.
  • Provide customer support for Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word, and form development software.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience interpreting and translating laws, regulations, or policies into written procedures
  • Experience researching, composing, and editing technical information materials
  • Experience using word processing equipment and software to modify or develop technical or complex material in final form 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and work on a computer 2-4 hours at a time
  • Some periods of heavy reading and typing required
  • Some travel may be required

Exam:  Checklist/Narrative. You will receive a score based on your answers. You must receive a minimum rating of 52 to pass this examination. Exam results are available online when the review process is complete.
