The current opening is located in the Transportation Systems Section. This section supports the Department in making highway construction project decisions by using models and data management systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with large amounts of data and modeling various scenarios that assess highway construction projects throughout the state.
- Serve as the point of contact and lead for the Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS)
- Submit the annual HPMS data set
- Coordinate HPMS sampling needs with pavement and traffic data collection crews
Coordinate with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) on the HPMS program and its administration
Advise management on needs of the program
Serve as the lead for the interpreting new federal rules (i.e., HPMS, Asset Management, Pavement)
Assist the Transportation Systems Manager with data analysis and special requests
Certify public road mileage for the state of Idaho in accordance with federal regulations
Calculate statewide Vehicle Miles Traveled
Develop data models and methodologies
Experience that demonstrates considerable knowledge of: modeling and trend analysis and simulation techniques.
Experience planning, developing, and implementing complex research and statistical projects and presenting the results; using and interpreting output of a statistical analysis software package.
- Experience using Geographical Information Systems such as ESRI ArcGIS.
- Familiarity with Citilabs Cube Base/Voyager software platforms.
- Experience with highway construction programming practices.
- Experience with programming languages such as, Java, C++, C#, SAS, R, and Groovy.
- Considerable experience with Advanced Excel functionality.
- A four year degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or other hard science.
- Experience with database design and database query languages.
