The Idaho State Tax Commission is recruiting for a Tax Automated System Specialist in Boise in Revenue Operations' Coordination and Automation Bureau

This announcement may be used to fill current and future openings throughout the Tax Commission.  Successful candidates will be motivated, self-driven individuals with a strong project management background.


  • Analyze and interpret laws, rules, and policies for system impact
  • Serve as the liaison between users and development staff
  • Act as a subject matter expert and coordinate activities
  • Identify and recommend automated system enhancements, modifications, and implementation methods, procedures, and time frames
  • Serve on the Rules Committee and coordinate related activity
  • Maintain documentation of system functions including data elements, test results, reporting requirements, and output
  • Plan and conduct training
  • Develop detailed test criteria and conducts/oversees system testing
  • Review processing errors to evaluate and/or develop specifications for implementation of changes in system data
  • Provide information to and liaison between field staff, management, and IT staff


  • Good knowledge of computerized applications development processes and procedures
  • Experience:
    • Interpreting and applying state and/or federal, or other related tax laws, rules, policies and procedures
    • Testing automated systems to determine if user needs and legal requirements are met
    • Planning, coordinating and implementing projects*   
    • Providing technical assistance to automated system users

*Note:  The Project Management 101 course in PLATO has been identified as qualifying coursework, in addition to experience, that may help candidates meet the minimum qualifications.
