The Idaho State Tax Commission is recruiting for a Tax Auditor 1 in the Audit Division's Income Tax Audit Bureau
This announcement may be used to fill future full-time classified Tax Auditor 1 positions in the Audit Division's Income Tax Audit Bureau. The current opening will be filled as an underfill for a full working level of Tax Auditor 2. Upon successful completion of training and meeting the competencies, the incumbent's title and salary may be changed to Tax Auditor 2.
The selected candidate must be willing to train in Boise for approximately 6 months to 1 year from the date of appointment. The employee will relocate to Coeur d'Alene upon successful completion of training.
Tax Auditor 1 positions are characterized by the inclusion of work that is analytical, creative, evaluative and advisory in nature. The work draws upon and requires a thorough knowledge of the fundamental doctrines, theories, principles and terminology of accountancy (GAAP). Incumbents use their professional background to prepare, analyze and/or audit financial records and documents, accounting systems, financial statements, work papers, budgets, tax and payroll records and other related documents. Generally, incumbents prepare reports of findings, conclusions or recommendations.
- Review accounting systems, financial statements, work papers, tax and payroll records and other related documents.
- Research and analyze data for accuracy to ensure compliance with State tax laws and regulations.
- Prepare audit findings and summaries.
- Identify legal issues and apply appropriate statute, rules and legal precedents.
- Participate in team audits.
All candidates being considered for employment with the Tax Commission must successfully complete a comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting, before a final job offer will be given. Individuals must be a current tax filer and be in full compliance with their tax obligations to be an employee of the Idaho State Tax Commission.
