The Idaho State Tax Commission is recruiting for a Tax Auditor 1 position in Income Tax Audit's Intrastate Unit in Boise

The Idaho State Tax Commission is recruiting for a Tax Auditor 1 as an underfill for a Tax Auditor 2 position in Income Tax Audit's Intrastate Unit.  The successful candidate's title and salary may be changed to a Tax Auditor 2 upon successful completion of training and meeting the competencies of a Tax Auditor 2. This announcement may be used to fill future Departmental Promotional and Open Competitive full-time classified Tax Auditor positions.

Tax Auditor 1 positions are characterized by the inclusion of work that is analytical, creative, evaluative and advisory in nature. The work draws upon and requires a thorough knowledge of the fundamental doctrines, theories, principles and terminology of accountancy (GAAP). Incumbents use their professional background to prepare, analyze and/or audit financial records and documents, accounting systems, financial statements, work papers, budgets, tax and payroll records and other related documents. Generally, incumbents prepare reports of findings, conclusions or recommendations.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review accounting systems, financial statements, work papers, tax and payroll records and other related documents.
  • Research and analyze data for accuracy to ensure compliance with State tax laws and regulations.
  • Prepare audit findings and summaries.
  • Identify legal issues and apply appropriate statute, rules and legal precedents.
  • Participate in team audits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good knowledge accounting principles and practices

Individuals must be a current tax filer and be in full compliance with their tax obligations to be an employee of the Idaho State Tax Commission.
