The Idaho State Tax Commission is recruiting for a Tax Compliance Technician in Boise

This announcement may be used to fill current and future full-time Tax Compliance Technician positions.


  • Enforce Idaho tax laws including assessment and collection of taxes
  • Provide taxpayers technical information on all tax types administered by the Idaho State Tax Commission and assistance in preparing tax returns
  • Interview individuals to obtain facts and research a variety of sources to obtain financial information
  • Consult taxpayers or their representatives and advise them that tax liens, levies and warrants may be executed 
  • Negotiate seizure of assets such as bank accounts and pay checks
  • Secure and review taxpayers’ financial statements and verify information for compromise agreements



  • Collection of delinquent accounts due 
  • Conducting sensitive fact-finding interviews 
  • Dealing with a variety of customers in difficult situations
  • Interpreting, applying and explaining laws, regulations, and/or policies and procedures to others
    Using basic office computer programs 


Some knowledge of bookkeeping 

All candidates being considered for employment with the Tax Commission must successfully complete a comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting, before a final job offer will be given. Individuals must be a current tax filer and be in full compliance with their tax obligations to be an employee of the Idaho State Tax Commission.
