The Mission of Idaho Correctional Industries (ICI) is teaching and strengthening work and life skills to minimum and medium security offenders to prepare them for a successful transition into society. ICI is a self-supporting state agency which provides life skills and marketable training opportunities for inmates to create a better opportunity for successful reentry into the community.

Idaho Correctional Industries (ICI) is seeking a Financial Technician for the Accounts Payable (AP) department. This position’s primary responsibility is to perform month end tasks that include reconciling accounts and reports, preparing journal entries, and payroll processing. ICI exists as a training program instructing minimum and medium security offenders on strengthening work and life skills to prepare them for a successful transition into society.



  • Process all accounts payable invoices, credit memos, adjustments in Global Shop, and payroll
  • Input all payments and credits in the STARS statewide accounting system
  • Investigate discrepancies between the purchase orders, receiving, and invoices
  • Address and research vendors and internal company issues related to accounts payable
  • Prepare and deliver daily deposits
  • Approve P-Card and Travel Express transactions
  • Reconcile AP accounts to trial balance, petty cash and credit card payments, as well as vendor statements
  • Prepare month end journal entries


  • Good knowledge of financial record keeping methods
  • Experience researching compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports
  • Experience using personal computers to enter, retrieve, and edit financial data


  • Experience reviewing and preparing documents for accounts payable/accounts receivable transactions for processing
  • Experience updating/modifying financial related desk procedure manuals
  • Experience balancing, reconciling and proofing financial data
  • Experience with the State of Idaho STARS System


To be hired, candidates will have a history and background supportive of department mission goals and will be subject to:

  • Completing a Background Investigation Questionnaire and pre-employment drug testing
  • Having a federal and state criminal background check to include fingerprints
  • Having a history of law-abiding behavior
  • Felonies, misdemeanors, illegal drug usage, DUI’s adverse driving convictions and employment history may make your ineligible for employment

Non-hiring restrictions are in place for candidates who:

  • Having been convicted of Domestic Violence or similar types of violent behaviors
  • Have a dishonorable discharge from military service
  • Currently are using, dealing or are associated with illegal drugs
  • Have close friends or relatives under IDOC care & custody where the vacancy exists
  • Are currently under IDOC supervision or probation (must be release from IDOC supervision or probation for a least one year)
