The Idaho Transportation Department has a Financial Specialist opening in the Financial Services section at the Headquarters location. This announcement will be used to fill the current openings in Boise only. NOTICE: This position requires a background investigation before a final job offer is made.

  • Provide professional assistance to Idaho Transportation Department sections to review Federal grants, to setup and modify grant program budgets in the Department’s financial/accounting system, and process requests for reimbursement to Federal agencies;
  • Research and analyze data for accuracy, trends, and variances to ensure acceptable business practices and procedures have been followed and for compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations;
  • Reconcile department program costs to Federal systems for completeness and compliance with Federal and State laws and agreements.
  • Analyze, research, and maintain financial data and develop financial documents/reports, including system reconciliations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum 20 college credit hours in accounting classes;
  • Previous grant management related experience and education;
  • Effective communicator that has proven ability in providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers;
  • Demonstrated experience as a team member in collaborating to solve problems;
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and manage deadlines.
  • Experience using, testing and implementing financial related systems;
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel;
