ITD is currently recruiting for a Financial Specialist, in Financial Services in our Revenue Operations unit located at our Boise Headquarters office. The incumbent will use accounting theory and practice to ensure the agency applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards correctly and consistently. This position is a dynamic, rewarding, fun and challenging role if you have tenacity for seeing projects through and enjoy complex system interactions.

  • Reconcile department accounting system with the State Controller's Office system (STARs);
  • Learn, and gain solid foundation of our business operations tasks, and coding structures;
  • Learn and perform tasks within multiple financial system;
  • Review financial transactions for errors, using financial system workflow;
  • Participate in designing, modifying, testing, training and implementing financial-related systems;
  • Participate or lead in developing policies and procedures, including formal creation of documents;
  • Conduct research in systems, and business processes;
  • Apply strong analysis skills to research, and maintain financial data;
  • Ability to create financial documents and reports with sound data validation;
  • Analyze technical financial issues and provide professional assistance and advice concerning their solutions within an information system or regarding a business process;
  • Actively engage in, support and drive towards department and section goals;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively which results in a successful completion of tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices

Desired Qualifications and Skills:


  • Developing and preparing financial documents;
  • Using a personal computer to develop, analyze, and report on financial data;
  • Analyzing financial activities and recommending management action.
  • Analyzing business processes and implementing efficient changes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 20 college credit hours in accounting;
  • Experience using and implementing financial systems;
  • Experience in business process reviews, improvements and implementation of changes;
  • Intermediate Excel skills and report writing skills;
  • Embrace and implement Lean Theories.
