The Idaho Commission for Libraries is recruiting
for a Continuing Education Library Consultant in Boise!

This position requires frequent travel.  A valid driver's license is required.

General Responsibilities:

  • Consults with and provides problem-solving assistance to administrators, governing boards, and staff on matters related to library plans, management, governance, services, funding, cooperative activities and grant programs.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates statewide plans and programs for continuing library education (CLE).
  • Collaborates in identifying continuing education needs, and in developing programs to address them.
  • Monitoring national trends in library development and current library practice.
  • Planning and coordinating local, regional, and statewide training events.
  • Overseeing local arrangements for training.
  • Presenting workshops/training sessions in areas of expertise.
  • Coordinating LSTA grant program to support individuals and local group continuing education activities.
  • Assisting in the development of the ICfL strategic plan, LSTA allocation plans, annual LSTA reports, procedures, and forms.
  • Evaluating grant applications and monitoring grant projects.
  • Providing consulting service in areas of expertise and back-up consultation when primary consultants are unavailable.
  • Assisting with continuing education activities for ICfL staff members.
  • Overseeing continuing education budget and financial reports.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's Degree from an American Library Association accredited program or comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of: professional principles and practices of library science; current trends in library services.
  • Some knowledge of grants administration.
  • Experience: planning and evaluating projects, programs, or services in a library setting; using facilitation, decision-making, and problem-solving techniques with groups; planning, developing and presenting training.
  • Experience in planning, developing, presenting adult education programs.
  • Valid driver's license
