The Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections is seeking

a Custodian Leadworker at our facility in St. Anthony

General Information:

  • This announcement will be used to fill the current and future vacancies at Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections in St. Anthony, only.  If you have previously applied for Custodian Leadworker and wish to be considered for the current vacancy, you must reapply under this announcement. Previous scores will not be used. 
  • A complete criminal history background investigation including, but not limited to, the Idaho State Police Criminal Identification Bureau and the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare will be conducted on the successful applicant.

Responsibilities:

  • Heavy-duty cleaning of facility offices and rooms, restrooms, classrooms, juvenile living and intake areas, medical offices, gym, kitchen, and IT & administrative areas.
  • Assists in the instruction and supervision of temporary help (juveniles) as well as staff in proper cleaning procedures.
  • Maintains supplies in custodial closets and stocks paper products as well as cleaning supplies throughout the facility.  Also helps in maintaining up-to-date MSDS information of products used in the facility.
  • Assists in the supervision and tasks of setting up for special events, moving of furniture, appliances, and setting up of audio/visual equipment.
  • Assists in maintaining facility operation, security, and indoor air quality in the building.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of: the methods, materials, and equipment used in heavy-duty custodial work including related safety practices; cleaning agents and related products and their possible reactions.
  • Some knowledge of: supervisory practices; sanitation and infection control; training methods used in custodial work.
  • Experience: operating industrial-type high-speed cleaning equipment; performing minor maintenance on custodial equipment; using hand tools to repair cleaning equipment; explaining the use and maintenance of custodial equipment.
  • Willingness to supervise and work directly with juveniles in a correctional setting.
  • The successful applicant must be willing to take and pass a Tuberculosis test within 30 days of employment.
