Idaho Transportation Department has an opening for an IT Information Systems Technician position in our Service Center located at our District 1 office in Coeur d'Alene. This position is responsible to operate, maintain and repair computer equipment and to provide technical assistance to users. The incumbent will provide Tier 1, 2, and 3 PC hardware and software support, research, test, and configure new PC/Printer technology and provide printer server administration including building print queues and setting up network printer. The successful candidate will be customer service oriented, pay close attention to detail, innovative, and be driven to succeed.

NOTE: This position requires a criminal background check prior to final offer.


  • Installs, tests, troubleshoots, and maintains hardware and software products;
  • Tests and installs specific client applications and/or reports using available products;
  • Documents support procedures;
  • As part of a team, prioritizes and performs service request and incident resolution activities from a queue of identified work;
  • Maintains service logs and assists in the creation of a knowledgebase;
  • Provides training to users on hardware and software applications;
  • Implements backup and recovery procedures;
  • Assists in monitoring and troubleshooting of LAN and WAN system performance and resolving communications and networking problems.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Evaluating and resolving computer, system, and user problems including compatibility conflicts, application operations, hardware malfunctions, and telecommunications problems;
  • Installing and maintaining computer hardware, software, and peripherals in the network and/or multi-platform environment;
  • Providing one-to-one IT training;
  • Using two or more applications software to support users.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Fantastic attitude, ready to both teach and learn in a team environment;
  • Experience with audio, video, and telecommunications support of meetings.
