The Idaho State Tax Commission is recruiting for an IT Systems Operator in Boise 

This position will be filled on a temporary part-time basis for an indefinite duration. The flexible work schedule is 19.5 hours per week with a non-negotiable starting salary of $14.08 per hour. This position does not have benefits. Temporary positions are exempt from classified state service, the rules of the Division of Human Resources, and the Idaho Personnel Commission.  


  • Operate and monitor computer equipment and peripheral devices ranging from mainframe or minicomputer equipment to large network computer systems
  • Perform system backups and hardware preventive maintenance
  • Troubleshoot system operating problems and determine the cause of system interruptions
  • Resolve and coordinate problem resolution with in-house staff and vendors
  • Enforce physical security for computer systems
  • Some knowledge of Networking

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience maintaining and trouble-shooting an operating system
  • Experience documenting operational problems
  • Experience reading and understanding technical material
  • Experience communicating with vendors, users, and other IT staff
