The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare currently has an opening for an IT Network Analyst, Senior in Boise. We are seeking applicants with experience providing expert level technical support of Cisco-based network infrastructure. If you have this experience, please ensure it is shown in the optional resume section in your application.

  • Design, configure and implement LAN, MAN and/or WAN hardware with emphasis on  Network Security
  • Prepare specifications and plan for implementation of new or enhanced networks and selected applications;
  • Design, deployment and maintenance of wireless networks and mesh wireless networks
  • Resolve user and system problems;
  • Monitor and evaluate network utilization and performance;
  • Oversee modifications to enhance network operating efficiency and ensure operating problems are resolved;
  • Design, configure and coordinate network infrastructure installation, upgrades and patches;
  • Develop and maintain accurate network documentation
  • Provide and participate in related technology cross-training

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience independently installing structured wiring systems in accordance with supporting international standards;
  • Experience supporting one or more network operating systems;
  • Experience working with multiple data networking technologies in multiple locations;
  • Experience installing, administering and configuring multi-protocol routers, wireless access points and layer 2 switches;
  • Experience troubleshooting, isolating, and interpreting performance problems in a multiple protocol environment;
  • Experience as a project leader and team member on a multi-phase project.

Additional Qualifications: Are not required; however, having the minimum qualifications and the education or experience below will increase your score.

  1. Experience implementing, configuring, and maintaining Cisco routers and switches in an enterprise environment with a strong knowledge of Cisco IOS and Nexus OS.  Typically gained by at least three years of experience within the last six years.
  2. Experience configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting Cisco wireless LAN controllers and Cisco Access Points.  Typically gained by at least two years of experience within the last six years.
  3. Knowledge and experience implementing network security controls based on the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) security controls.  Typically gained by at least two years of experience within the last six years.
  4. Experience managing network protocol/services including BGP, OSPF, GRE, HSRP/VRRP, NAT/PAT, SNMP, MPLS, QoS, Mutlicast.  Typically gained by at least three years of experience within the last six years.
  5. Network certifications within the last six years a plus.  Indicate the date certification was received.
