The Department of Water Resources has an exciting career opportunity in Boise, Idaho, for an IT professional to work in a natural resource environment. This is a full time, senior-level position. At this level, incumbents are able to perform the full range of application design, analysis and programming functions to identify and solve complex problems related to the field of natural resources. They are seasoned professionals who are looked to for guidance and counsel by less experienced staff. Applicants should have 5+ years experience working in a Microsoft application development environment and experience using Visual Studio and C#. Applications integrate with ESRI geospatial processes and are moving towards a mobile environment. - Analyze, develop, and maintain custom business applications used by the Agency.
- Develop, test and implement new application programs and enhancements.
- Resolve routine to complex programming problems and determines appropriate solutions.
- Research available tools and technologies to determine alternative technology solutions.
- Consults with users to analyze, develop, and maintain programs.
Five years full-time work experience in the past 10 years in the information technology (IT) field at the Programmer Analyst level or higher.
Experience writing in one or more commonly used programming languages or in 4th generation languages appropriate for multi-use/multi-tasking environments.
Writing IT programming specifications, performing system analysis and design, writing program documentation in accordance with published standards.
Experience with VB.NET, ASP.NET C#.NET or comparable programming languages in .NET framework 3.5 or higher. Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, developing either desktop and/or web applications.
Familiarity with ESRI GIS products such as ArcObjects and ArcGIS Server.
Ability to work in a team environment with other Programmers, GIS Analysts, Database Administrators, and/or Web Developers to define and develop standards.
Experience with system analysis and design and associated documentation practices.
