IDJC is also announcing the vacancy at the IT Programmer Analyst level.  The IT Programmer Analyst position is used for recruitment and training purposes for the IT Programmer Analyst, Senior position. Through various types of on-the-job training, the employee will learn to carry out the duties of an IT Programmer Analyst-Senior.  Typically the Senior level requires 2 years experience as an IT Programmer Analyst or equivalent work experience.  Upon completion of training, the employee will be reclassified to an IT Programmer Analyst Senior.

As a member of the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections (IDJC) Information Technology team, this position will be responsible for the support, maintenance, enhancement and development of a variety of applications.    These applications cover a wide range of needs from managing statewide juvenile justice caseloads, document management, interfacing with external data systems, utilizing mobile devices, education records and integrating internal web sites and public access internet applications. This is a senior-level position and incumbents are able to complete the complex programming and design assignments.   

This position will participate in IDJC's efforts to expand its suite of applications to a Web based environment.  This position will be involved in new development projects requiring a high degree of technical expertise. They are a subject matter expert for major application systems.

Initially this position will be located at the Juvenile Corrections Center in Nampa.  Depending on the needs of the agency the position may be relocated to the IDJC Headquarters building in downtown Boise.


The Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections has regionalized state services for juveniles committed to its custody, making it possible for most juveniles to remain close enough to their communities so parents and other key community members can take part in the juvenile's treatment. State juvenile correctional centers are located in Lewiston, Nampa, and St. Anthony and provide a full complement of services for 268 youth who range from 10 to 20 years of age.

Nampa is located just minutes from the capital city of Boise in southwestern Idaho.  It is the second largest city in Idaho with all the amenities one would expect of an urban area while still retaining that home town atmosphere. • Perform application development, maintenance, testing and implementation of Windows and Web applications in environments such as .NET (C#), ASP.NET, Oracle and SQL Server.
•  Prepare application documentation and logic representations for review by the programming team.
•  Support end-users in the development of training materials and the use of applications.
•  Upgrade IDJC applications to newer versions as needed.


  • Experience writing in one or more commonly used programming languages or in 4th generation language appropriate for multi-use/multi-tasking environments. 
  • Experience writing IT programming specifications. 
  • Experience performing systems design and analysis. 
  • Experience writing program documentation in accordance with published standards.
  • Experience developing end-user programs using the following tools. Be sure to include your experience with Web and Windows application development: 
    • A) .NET framework, specifically C#
    • B) ASP.NET version 3.5 or higher
  • Willing to work in a Juvenile Corrections Facility.
