Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections is looking for an individual who has strong interpersonal skills and works well with minimum supervision. This Office Specialist 2 works in a smaller office environment and will be in charge of answering phones, greeting visitors, and working with the staff in this office.   • This position provides clerical support for two Juvenile Service Coordinators (JSC), a District Liaison, anda Juvenile Justice Council.
  • Collaborates with the JSCs and other OS2s to process paperwork and set up an electronic file for juveniles committed to the custody of the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections
  • Collaborates with the JSC to obtain missing documents
  • Maintains the juvenile file for the duration of commitment
  • Proofreads reports and documents written by the JSC
  • Prepares and distributes juvenile-related documents and notices to community stakeholders
  • Maintains juvenile information and performs tasks in a juveniles management database
  • Maintains an Excel spreadsheet to track work flows and deadlines
  • Collaborates with the JSCs to ensure all progress reporting and paperwork is completed timely
  • Will interact with county partners and parents in the absence of other staff and will be able to provide needed information

As Referral Coordinator:

  • The OS2 sends referral information to potential providers
  • Completesrelated documentation and tasks to keep others informed of status
  • Works with the fiscal department to obtain placement contracts, and
  • As needed, collaborates with the legal department to obtain placement agreements with other states
  • Support for the District Liaison and Juvenile Justice Council includes:
  • Preparing correspondence
  • Assisting with collection of reports from counties andcompiling statistical data
  • Assisting in the processing of funding applications for services and training from various grants
  • Coordinating meetings and taking minutes following Robert's Rules of Order
  • Maintainingrecords of meetings and council business

Additional Duties Include:

  • Scheduling travel for staff
  • Managing the fleet of three state vehicles, including having them serviced and changing out the tires two times a year
  • Ordering office supplies and purchasing other needed items
  • Troubleshooting building maintenance issues

This position requires periodic day or overnight travel


  • Good knowledge of rules of effective business English usage, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Experience using alphabetical, numerical, or subject filing systems to include determining file names, setting up new files, classifying, labeling, filing, and retrieving.
  • Experience reviewing documents for compliance with established procedures.
  • Experience using a computer to enter and retrieve information.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Experience answering a business telephone using knowledge of business telephone procedures and etiquette.

Part 1 - Minimum Qualifications (Pass/Fail).

Part 2 - Multiple-Choice Written Exam (100%). If you meet the minimum qualifications as shown in Part 1, you will receive a Pass score and can then take Part 2 (the online written examination). You must receive a Pass on Part 1 and a minimum score of 60 on Part 2 in order to be put on the register for these positions. Both Part 1 and Part 2 must be completed by the closing date of this announcement. Notification of your test results will be available online once you have completed each part of the exam.
