This position is responsible for providing front-line customer relations and service for Human Resource Services and appropriately responding to inquiries referencing to the interpretation of State, University or SBOE policies, rules, procedures and programs. Some administrative duties for generating and maintaining compliance records are assigned to this position.  The process of tracking, enforcing, and implementing compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 will be a main priority and responsibility for this position.  In addition, this position provides administrative support for the department and serves as backup to the other HR Front Desk Customer Service Representative.

Major functions include:

  • Compliance
  • Process Form I-9 paperwork for Boise State employees.  This position also provides detailed answers to procedural questions such as why the form is required, what are considered appropriate (legal) forms of identification, where to go to obtain a replacement Social Security Card, etc.
  • Customer Service
  • This position provides frontline customer service in person, over the phone and through e-mail.  Emphasis is on providing excellent customer service while maintaining a high level of employee confidentiality.
    This position must be able to make decisions to resolve complicated issues that arise at the front desk.
  • Reception
  • Assist people arriving in HRS for scheduled or unscheduled visits. Direct phone calls and visitors to the correct group when they call or come in with an issue and don’t know who they need to see. This can include visitors and callers who are dissatisfied, stressed or upset. 
    This position acts as first contact for answering questions related to employment, compliance, benefits and payroll. Detailed knowledge of the various aspects of HRS, including Employee Relations, Employment, Benefits, Training and Payroll is necessary.

  • Minimum Qualifications:

    To qualify for this position, you must have experience:

    • Questioning customers to obtain detailed information in a business setting;
    • Independently handling complaints and upset individuals in a business setting;
    • Answering a business telephone using knowledge of business telephone procedures and etiquette;
    • Reviewing documents and records for accuracy and completeness;
    • Accessing data using a computerized records system.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working in a Human Resources department.
