The Idaho State Tax Commission is recruiting highly motivated, self-driven individual that enjoys a call center environment to fill a Technical Records Specialist 2 position in the Collection Division's Phone Power Unit

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Advise debtors of payment options, legal obligation to pay, and execute payment agreements
  • Frequent contact with internal and external customers, which requires good public relation skills
  • Locate responsible parties using skip-tracing methods and contacts other state departments and debtors' employers to verify employment status
  • Maintain collection caseload to ensure in compliance with payment agreement
  • Utilize considerable independence and exercise discretion in applying tax collection laws, regulations, policies, procedures
  • Problem solving and negotiation skills with authority to act on decisions made
  • Analyze delinquent account records to determine appropriate and cost-effective collection approach
  • Perform complex and difficult program support functions required for the frontline collection program
  • Have the authority, knowledge, and judgment to devise solutions that fall outside existing policies and procedures
  • Provide guidance and assistance regarding complex program rules and regulations to office staff and external customers
  • Extensive knowledge of department programs and objectives

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience monitoring record systems to identify and correct errors
  • Experience interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies for multiple or highly specialized programs
  • Experience analyzing information and researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues
  • Experience dealing with individuals from varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds in stressful situations
  • Experience entering and retrieving data using a computerized record system
  • Experience composing and proofreading business correspondence

Specialty Qualifications:

  • Experience working with sensitive or restricted data such as financial, personal, and medical with the responsibility to protect the confidentiality of that information
  • Experience conducting sensitive fact-finding interviews

Desirable Qualification:

  • Ability to speak Spanish and English fluently
  • Experience using a variety of sources to locate debtors
  • Experience working in a call center environment
