The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is currently recruiting for an Agriculture Program Manager in the Division of Ag. Resources.


  • Supervise the Pesticide Training Agriculture Program Specialist, Pesticide Certification Ag Program Specialist, Pesticide Registration Ag Program Specialist, Scientist 4, Technical Records Specialist 1, and Office Specialist 2 within the assigned programs;
  • In coordination with the Bureau Chief and Administrator, establish, implement and monitor pesticide services program goals, objectives, policies and procedures;
  • Assist the Administrator and Bureau Chief to develop budgets for assigned programs;
  • Ensure that assigned programs operate within budget limits;
  • Review and process paperwork for Section 18 and Special Local Need registrations;
  • Oversee and update pesticide licensing and registration information on the ISDA website;
  • Develop strategic plans and annual work plans and provide technical assistance for staff;
  • Oversee the activities of the Director's Pesticide Advisory Committee to include all administrative actions, information distribution, and scheduling of meetings;
  • Compile and analyze data to identify program needs;
  • Review, approve and submit Section 18 requests & SLN approvals;
  • Review the web pages for Section 18 and SLN labels to make sure they are current;
  • Respond to inquiries and advise others on designated program issues;
  • Train and assist new certification, licensing and registration program hires.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: This qualification is a mandatory requirement.

  • Some knowledge of management practices.

SPECIALTY QUALIFICATIONS: These qualifications are mandatory requirements.

  • Considerable knowledge of pesticide use, toxicity and modes of action.
  • Experience:
    • Reviewing and interpreting pesticide labels and related laws.
    • Analyzing tolerance setting procedures, risk-benefit evaluations, and risk assessments.

Temporary appointments from this announcement, serving at least one thousand forty (1,040) hours of continuous service, may be hired as an entrance probationary employee without further examination for the same classification and location as announced.
