Primary Purpose

The primary duty of the person in this position is writing and maintaining SQL and PL/SQL scripts used to build and query our department reporting database. The database is used for data analysis and reporting for both internal and external projects. For example, internal analysis and reporting includes projects related to student recruitment, student retention and Program Prioritization. Examples of external analysis and reporting include projects for the state and federal government, Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), specialized program accreditation organizations, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).  This position is eligible for reduced tuition for some college courses for the employee, spouse and dependent child under the age of 26. Key Responsibilities

•    Design, develop, and maintain Oracle database applications to support the department database, and source the Banner ERP system and the ISU Operational Data Store (60%)
•    Develop and maintain Linux shell scripts for automation and other requirements (10%)
•    Utilize GIT version control software to organize and maintain code (10%)
•    Work with the Director, Associate Director, ITS and data custodians in each functional area of Banner to assure that data included in reports is accurate, consistent, and meets institutional requirements (10%)
•    Other analysis, development, and support tasks as assigned by the Director or Associate Director (10%)

Minimum Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.  In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a combination of education and relevant experience may satisfy this requirement.
•   Thorough knowledge of relational database design and development including SQL, and packaged stored procedures and functions.
•    Solid programming skills in at least one language.

Preferred Qualifications

•    Oracle database and PL/SQL
•    Linux O/S and Shell scripting
•    GIT version control
•    Oracle VM VirtualBox
•    R programming language for statistical analysis and graphics.
•    Web reporting using PHP, Javascript, HTML, and CSS.

Salary has been approved at $58,849 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
