The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has exciting opportunities for Early Intervention Therapists who would like to work with infants, birth - 3 years of age. This announcement may be used to fill Speech-Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, and Physical Therapist openings as they occur.

This announcement may be used to fill current and future vacancies in the following locations: Blackfoot, Boise, Caldwell, Coeur d’Alene, Grangeville, Idaho Falls, Lewiston, Mountain Home, Moscow, Nampa, Orofino, Payette, Pocatello, Rexburg, Rupert, Salmon, Sandpoint, Twin Falls.

Responsibilities:

Assessment

  • Select and administer discipline specific assessment and evaluation instruments to determine the child’s developmental status.
  • Obtain specialized medical/social history through interview with parent, physician, or other team members and/or review of the child’s record.
  • Prepare written reports that include assessment results, strengths and needs, and recommended child and family-centered outcomes and service objectives.

Service Plan Development and Monitoring 

  • Participate in Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) development with Multi-Disciplinary Team members, including the family; participate in six month IFSP reviews of each child’s progress. 
  • Participate in transitional planning identified in the child’s IFSP.

Therapeutic Intervention 

  • Provide discipline specific direct services in the child’s natural environment using routine based intervention.
  • Serve as primary interventionist as representative of and in collaboration with multi-disciplinary team.
  • Design and implement child and family centered treatment and intervention program with the family and Infant Toddler team.
  • Evaluate child’s progress and work with the Infant Toddler team and family to modify treatment or intervention.
  • Maintain documentation of each discipline specific service delivered to the child including consultation or coaching activities for the parent or caregiver.
  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions as identified in the IFSP in the child’s natural environment using routine based interventions.

Teaming

  • Participate in Infant Toddler multi-disciplinary team meeting to determine a child’s eligibility.
  • Review and explain discipline specific evaluation results and recommend functional child and family outcomes and objectives with team.
  • Participate in regular meetings with Infant Toddler Program team members.

Consultation and education 

  • Provide discipline specific consultation and instruction to Infant Toddler team members and parents.
  • Provide necessary information to physicians, public health districts, and school personnel regarding the child’s functioning level.  
  • Coordinate program with other service providers and community organizations. 
  • May participate in research projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license.

Positions also require one of the following:

  • Licensure as a physical therapist in Idaho in accordance with Idaho Code 54-2202. Registration or a temporary registration must be obtained prior to appointment.
  • Licensure as an occupational therapist in Idaho in accordance with Idaho Code 54-3703. Licensure or a limited permit must be obtained prior to appointment.
  • Licensure as a speech-language pathologist in accordance with Idaho Code 54-2913 or Provisional Permit in accordance with Idaho Code 54-2919.
