The Department of Administration is dedicated to providing responsive, cost effective, and timely support services to Idaho's policy makers, public agencies and state employees as they serve Idaho citizens.

The Department of Administration has an immediate opening for a full-time Security/Parking Technician located in Boise.

This permanent classified position also includes a comprehensive benefit package including: PERSI Retirement Benefits, Medical/Dental Benefits and Life Insurance for both the employee and eligible dependents. Paid time off includes vacation and sick leave that begin accruing immediately upon hire and Holiday pay.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Operating and maintaining the Capitol Mall Parking Program to include processing applications for general, reserved and legislative parking requests and ensuring compliance with related IDAPA rules;
  • Operating and maintaining the State Photo ID Access Card System to include interacting with customers, contractors, employees and elected officials to provide them with the needed identification cards and access to various locations;
  • Operating the Hirsch Access Controls and Video Security Surveillance System to include maintaining the database, system troubleshooting, programming of access controllers and doors, access cards and ensuring proper lockdown and unlock of doors;
  • Maintains the Capitol Mall video surveillance system to include making repairs to cameras, connections, receivers/transceivers and video recorders;
  • Maintains the Capitol Mall key program suing Best Key software to include issuing and making keys, pinning and installing key cores.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience monitoring record systems to identify and correct errors;
  • Experience interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies for multiple or highly specialized programs;
  • Experience analyzing information and researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues;
  • Experience dealing with individuals from varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds in stressful situations;
  • Experience entering and retrieving data using a computerized record system;
  • Experience composing and proofreading business correspondence.

Desirable Qualifications:

The following are not required but possessing the education and/or experience could increase your overall score.

  • Experience operating/using security access controls hardware and software;
  • Experience reading and understanding floor plans, line diagrams and control circuits;
  • Experience working with low voltage and electronic equipment;
  • Experience communicating clearly, calmly, and persuasively while handing conflict and anger.

The ideal candidate will also have excellent communication skills, computer and database retrieval skills, experience working on and contributing to team goals and objectives, and experience with successful problem solving and implementing solutions.
