The Idaho State Tax Commission is recruiting for temporary Data Specialists and Imaging Clerks for its upcoming 2018 Tax Drive Season

There are a limited number of Data Specialist and Imaging Clerk openings. Individuals are encouraged to apply for temporary tax drive Taxpayer Accounting Clerk, Refund Desk Clerk, Registration Clerk and/or Mail position(s). To be considered for a temporary tax drive position, you must apply separately under the announcement for each position interested in and your name must be referred to the hiring agency. Tax Drive positions do not have benefits. The date of hire, shift and duration varies based on the position.


Top candidates will be invited to participate in an information session which will include an interview on January 4, 2018.  The target start date is January 22, 2018. 


  • Perform data entry ensuring accuracy and compliance with rules, regulations, and/or policies, identifying, researching, and correcting errors
  • Conduct research and update electronic and paper records
  • Provide information and explain tax, agency, and department policies, services, and procedures to others as needed

Some positions may operate high-speed imaging equipment or involve standing and/or sitting for long periods of time.



  • Reviewing documents for compliance with established procedures
  • Interpreting and applying regulations, laws, policies, procedures and/or program knowledge to carry out work assignments
  • Using a computerized records system to enter and retrieve electronic documents
  • Working independently following written and oral instructions

All candidates being considered for employment with the Tax Commission must successfully complete a comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting, before a final job offer will be given.  Individuals must be a current tax filer and be in full compliance with their tax obligations to be an employee of the Idaho State Tax Commission.

This announcement will be used to fill temporary Data Specialist and Imaging Clerk positions in Boise for the upcoming Tax Drive season.  If you have previously applied for any other temporary position and wish to be considered for this Tax Drive position, you must apply under this announcement.  Previous scores will not be used.    


Rating of Education and Experience: Respond to the examination questions based on your training and experience directly related to this position. Your resume will be used to validate your responses. You will receive a score based on your answers. You must receive a minimum rating of 70 to pass this examination.
