The Idaho State Tax Commission is recruiting for a Tax Appraiser in Boise

The Idaho State Tax Commission is recruiting for a Tax Appraiser as an underfill for a Tax Appraiser, Senior position in the Property Tax Division.  The successful candidate's title and salary may be changed to a Tax Appraiser, Senior upon successful completion of training and meeting the competencies of a Tax Appraiser, Senior.

 Principal Responsibilities:

  • Interpret property tax laws, rules, policies, and procedures
  • Participate in developing and implementing appraisal programs
  • Recommend policies and procedures for appraisal program
  • Conduct, develop and document appraisals of public utilities properties
  • Confer with utility company representatives to gather appraisal data
  • May review, monitor and evaluate content, accuracy and quality of appraisals
  • Provide individualized and group training to assessors and county staff on unitary appraisals
  • Participate in training workshops and seminars on appraisal methods
  • Conduct on-the-job training working with clients to develop and maintain IT solutions in the application of appraisal and assessment practices
  • Assist assessors and appraisers in on-site inspections

Occasional travel may be required for this position.   

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Some knowledge of: appraisal and/or unit valuation methods and techniques using income, sales comparison and cost approaches
  • Experience applying financial or valuation models using computer software

Special Requirement:  Must be a certified property tax appraiser within one year of appointment in accordance with Idaho Code 63-105A (17).
