1. Experience conducting in-depth, one-on-one interviews designed to elicit facts and sensitive information. The information from these interviews will be used in making federal program eligibility decisions in accordance with program policies and federal listings of impairments and other criteria.
To qualify, this experience must have been a primary job responsibility, occurring on an ongoing basis and not incidental in nature.

Note: This type of experience is generally gained by working as a customer service representative, insurance claims adjuster, hearing officer, eligibility examiner, substance abuse counselor, law enforcement officer, counselor, or other similar work in public assistance, social services, employment and training programs.

A) I have less than one year of work experience as described above and no college coursework in this area.
B) I have at least one year of work experience as described above OR I have six months of work experience as described above AND six semester hours of college coursework in communications, counseling, psychology, human relations, social work or other class where effective use of human relations skills was clearly emphasized OR I have a college Baccalaureate degree.
C) I have at least two years of work experience as described above.
D) I have at least three years of work experience as described above.

2. Experience in explaining complex program requirements to individuals who may have a physical and/or emotional impairment, or who may not understand these requirements, and/or confrontational customers in a one-to-one situation, and helping all customers to understand how the program applies to their situations.
To qualify, this experience must have been a primary job responsibility, occurring on an ongoing basis and not incidental in nature.

Note: This type of experience is generally gained by work as a customer service representative, interviewer, eligibility examiner, insurance claims adjuster, hearing officer, social service or employment and training services provider, drug/alcohol counselor, law enforcement officer, counselor, and medical/EMT.

B) I have at least one year of work experience as described above;
OR,
I have at least six months of work experience as described AND six semester hours of college coursework in counseling, psychology, human relations, social work, or other class where skill in dealing with emotional, difficult, or confrontational people was clearly emphasized OR I have a college Baccalaureate degree.
C) I have at least two years of work experience as described above.
D) I have at least three years of work experience as described above.

3. Experience in interpreting and applying complex information such as policies, procedures, regulations or laws, in a work situation where work is closely monitored for its accurate interpretation and application of this information.
To qualify, this experience must have been a primary job responsibility, occurring on an ongoing basis and not incidental in nature.

Note: This type of experience is generally gained by work as a customer service representative, interviewer, eligibility examiner, insurance claims adjuster, hearing officer, social service or employment and training services provider, drug/alcohol counselor, law enforcement officer, counselor, and medical/EMT.

A) I have less than one year of work experience as described above and no college coursework in this area.
B)I have at least one year of work experience as described above OR I have six months work experience as described above AND at least six semester hours of college coursework in counseling, psychology, communication, research, or other class where interpreting complex written material and applying the material in context were clearly emphasized, OR I have a college Baccalaureate degree.
C) I have at least two years of work experience as described above.
D) I have at least three years of work experience as described above.

4. Experience composing and preparing ORIGINAL written business communications such as notices explaining technical policies or decisions.
To qualify, this experience must have been a primary job responsibility, occurring on an ongoing basis and not incidental in nature.

A) I have less than one year of work experience as described above and no college coursework in this area.
B) I have at least one year of experience as described above OR I have six months of work experience as described above AND six semester hours of college coursework in English composition, business English, journalism, technical writing, or other class where composing and preparing written communication was clearly emphasized OR I have a college Baccalaureate degree.
C) I have at least two years of work experience as described above AND composing a variety of complex business documents such as informational documents, training materials, or narrative reports.
D) I have at least three years of work experience as described above.

5. Managing multiple priorities or tasks on a daily basis in order to meet specific job objectives or standards.

A) I have less than one year of work experience as described above and no college coursework in this area.

B) I have at least one year of work experience where, in addition to routine responsibilities, you had to balance, coordinate, and set priorities for multiple projects with varying deadlines, or for multiple supervisors.

C) I have at least one year of work experience where, in addition to performing the duties above, the workload regularly involved several important long-term projects with varying deadlines. The applicant had complete responsibility for ensuring the work was accomplished and timelines were met both for the long-term projects as well as the daily office work.

D) I have at least two years of work experience where, in addition to performing the duties above, the workload regularly involved balancing requirements & shifting priorities with a high consequence of error if timelines or deadlines were not met. These would usually result in a significant monetary or legal consequence for my employer such as failing to submit time-sensitive legal court documents or not meeting grant application deadlines.

6. Experience operating a personal computer including software applications used.

B) I have at least six months of experience operating a personal computer as an integral part of the job OR I have three months of experience as described above AND 40 hours or more of formal training from a training institution which covered basic PC skills, operating systems, keyboarding, basic troubleshooting, etc.
C) I have at least six months of experience where operating a personal computer using Microsoft Windows was an integral part of the job OR I have three months of experience as described above AND a minimum of 40 hours of formal training in Microsoft Windows applications.
D) I have at least one year of experience where operating a personal computer using Microsoft Windows was an integral part of the job OR I have six months of experience as described above AND a minimum of 40 hours of formal training in Microsoft Windows applications.
