Community Resource, Career Fair Thursday, Friday at Idaho Center

More than 85 businesses, schools and agencies will be represented at the Idaho Center in Nampa Thursday and Friday for the Treasure Valley Community Resource and Career Fair.

The fair will provide workers and their families information on viable job and volunteer opportunities, educational information and the many community resources for things such as food, transportation and housing that are available to help them cope with unstable economic circumstances.

The Treasure Valley Reading Foundation is also providing 8,000 books that will be distributed free to pre-schoolers through high school students during the fair. The books range from “Under the Sea,” a Dora the Explorer book for pre-schoolers, to “Take Off” by Todd Strasser for teen-age boys.

The fair will run from 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. on both days. Job search, résumé writing, interviewing and online networking workshops and seminars will be held throughout the day along with sessions on other topics ranging from volunteerism to what kind of support resources are available in the Treasure Valley.

The event is co-sponsored by the Idaho Center, the Idaho Department of Labor, AARP and the Idaho Commission on Aging.
