Labor Launches New Employee Search Service

Employers who list jobs with the Idaho Department of Labor can now search the department’s new online job seeker database for potential applicants by work history, skills, job preference, education level and more. An advanced search feature helps employers narrow the search by location, preferred salary, experience and other options.

The service is free. To use it employers must have an electronic Employer Job Order Entry account and a current job listing with the department. The Employer Job Order Entry account is also free.

“More than 5,000 job seekers have added their profiles since the system was launched in February, and we are seeing more added every day,” said Kristyn Roan, area manager for southwestern Idaho.

Job seekers can select or suppress the information a prospective employer sees. If an employer wants to interview a job seeker, the department will either send an e-mail on behalf of the employer to the job seeker or the employer will make direct contact if the job seeker chooses that option.

The new service is among several improvements to the department’s business services system, which allows employers to list job openings, pay unemployment insurance taxes and manage their accounts – all online.

The employee search system was developed by the Idaho Department of Labor and funded with assistance from the Workforce Development Alliance in south central Idaho, which devoted part of its $5 million, three-year WIRED grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.

“This new tool enables employers and job seekers to connect more rapidly and is just one of many enhancements the region is working with the department to develop,” said Brent Tolman, alliance executive director.
