Community Resources Fair Set For Idaho Falls

Communities throughout eastern Idaho will put their resources out front during a special fair on Feb. 19 in Idaho Falls for workers and their families who have been hit hard by the national recession.

Representatives from state and local government, educational institutions, financial services, self-help organizations, social service agencies and veterans groups will provide information on their programs and answer questions during the Community Resources Fair that will run from noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Idaho Department of Labor’s Idaho Falls office at 1515 E Lincoln Road.

“This region’s unemployment rate has more than doubled to over 5 percent in just the past year, and that means nearly 3,000 more workers without jobs in our nine counties,” event organizer and Labor Consultant Windy Melgaard said. “These workers want to know not only about finding another job, but also how they are going to pay their bills, put food on the table, take care of their kids and keep a roof over their families’ heads.

“Fair participants will be answering those questions and providing information on available services that some may not know about,” she said.

More information is available from Melgaard, the disability program navigator, at (208) 557-2500 ext 3053 or Ron Greaves, the veterans representative, at (208) 557-2500 ext 3586.
