Idahoans who were out of work in 2008 and collected unemployment benefits can use the Internet to obtain information on the amounts they received so they can file their state and federal tax returns.
Copies of individual Form 1099s are available at www.labor.idaho.gov/iw. Neither the Internal Revenue Service nor the Idaho State Tax Commission requires a copy to accompany the federal or state tax returns. Taxpayers need only include the amount of unemployment insurance benefits they received on their returns.
Printed copies of the 1099 form will be mailed this week.
Questions about the amounts recorded on the forms should be directed to the Idaho Department of Labor local office serving the claimant’s area. A list of local offices can be found by visiting labor.idaho.gov and clicking on ‘Local Office Links’ in the upper right corner.
