16th Annual Youth Job Fair Set for May 10

Another large turnout is expected May 10 for the Department of Labor’s 16th annual Youth Job Fair in southwestern Idaho.

Over 40 employers representing a broad range of industries and organizations will be represented at the fair, which runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Centennial High School, 12400 W. McMillan Road in Boise.

“This is a terrific opportunity for young people to talk with local employers, not just about immediate job prospects but about long-term career opportunities,” said Brian Sporleder, manager of the department’s Meridian local office.

Among those on hand will be representatives from Albertsons, Sears, the Boys and Girls Club, Edwards 21 and BODO Theatres, the U.S. Army, Wendy’s, Toys R’Us, McDonald’s, the U.S. Marine Corps, Taco Bell, Lucky Lawns, Kentucky Fried Chicken, the U.S. Navy, Girl Scouts of Silver Sage, the YMCA and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Apprenticeship Programs.

Employers will be filling full-time, part-time, seasonal and entry level jobs so applicants are encouraged to dress for a possible interview. Job seekers can also explore other employment opportunities in southwestern Idaho by registering with the Idaho Department of Labor online at www.labor.idaho.gov.

Job consultants will answer questions, assist with job searches and provide information on employment resources available to youth seeking employment.

Last year’s Youth Job Fair drew over 700 young people.
