Idaho Workforce Development Task Force to Meet May 4

Best practices for career advising will be discussed at the next meeting of the Governor’s Workforce Development Task Force. The meeting is scheduled to take place Thursday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. MT at the Idaho Career & Technical Education Clearwaters Conference Room, 3rd floor, Len B. Jordan Building, 650 W. State St., Boise.

Presentations on state college and career advising tools, the implementation of college and career advising in schools, and career and technical education in middle schools are planned. Presentations on the Idaho Digital Learning Portals and a proposed Idaho Career Information System rebuild also are on the agenda.

Following the presentations, the task force will hold open discussions and begin writing recommendations based on best practices.

Idaho Gov. C. L. “Butch” Otter established the Workforce Development Task Force in January 2017 to find solutions for funding and delivering a skilled workforce for Idaho. Task force members represent employers in health care, aerospace, food processing, natural resources, advanced manufacturing, energy and construction. Members also include legislators and educators.
