College of Western Idaho to Offer Nursing Assistant Program in

The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is offering a nursing assistant training program in McCall starting in September. Classes will take place at McCall-Donnelly High School, 401 N. Mission St.

Financial assistance may be available through the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) to help students pay for this training program. Interested job seekers should make an appointment to meet with a workforce consultant at the Idaho Department of Labor McCall office at (208) 634-7102 to help determine eligibility.

The certified nursing assistant (CNA) preparation class is a 10-week course held on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4 – 8 p.m. starting Monday, Sept. 11. Course content will include 88 hours of classroom training and 32 hours of clinical experience. The training is intended to prepare students to take the state examination to earn certified nursing assistant (CNA) status by the end of the class session. In order to enroll in this course, students must be 16 years or older and have a solid understanding of the English language. A high school diploma is not required.

Interested students are required to attend one of two mandatory orientation sessions. Orientations will take place from 2 - 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31 and 9 - 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 at the CWI Micron Center, 5725 E. Franklin Road in Nampa.
