The Idaho Career Information System (CIS) is a division of the Idaho Department of Labor and since 1980 has been helping people in Idaho make informed career decisions.
We pride ourselves on creating the only comprehensive source of career information available anywhere that focuses both on Idaho and national information. CIS staff members gather information and data from hundreds of sources and format it in one place so you can:
- Explore career opportunities
- Find educational programs, the schools that offer them and scholarships related to those opportunities
- Make successful career decisions and educational plans
- Find work that fits your career goals
CIS promotes lifelong learning and includes assessment, career and college planning and financial aid resources. It is appropriate for middle schools, high schools, postsecondary institutions and agencies serving adult populations such as employment offices, vocational rehabilitation programs and correctional facilities.
Philosophy
We specialize in helping people find their career passion.
We provide tools and assessments that allow individuals to determine where their interests lie and what their work values, skills and dependable strengths are. This information is used as the building blocks to help individuals find exciting and fulfilling careers that allow them to use their innate skills and abilities.
Leveraging Resources through the CIS Network of States
The Idaho Career Information System has been a member of the CIS Network of Operators for over 30 years. This consortium leverages resources and talents to plan, develop and disseminate the most comprehensive career information products and services available. Idaho is one of 21 states that belong to this consortium also known as the CIS Operators.
These operators include state agencies, state universities and private, nonprofit organizations and entities whose mission is to provide career development resources for citizens of their state. They work with intoCAREERS to add localized information and provide training and technical support to customers within their respective regions.
CIS Operators play a significant role in the continued development of CIS. They bring firsthand knowledge of how CIS is being used by schools and agencies and provide valuable ideas and suggestions for program enhancements. They also actively participate in creating other career development products.
This diverse group of CIS Operators, along with intoCAREERS, is known as the CIS Network.
