The Census Bureau produces the Census 2000 Special Equal Employment Opportunity file for those federal agencies responsible for monitoring employment practices and enforcing civil rights laws in the work place, and for all employers so they can measure their compliance to the laws. The Census 2000 Special Equal Employment Opportunity Tabulation serves as the primary external benchmark for conducting comparisons between the racial, ethnic and gender composition of each employer's work force to its available labor market.
