The Idaho Department of Labor agency charged with determining medical eligibility for Social Security disability benefits has been recognized again for outstanding service.
The Social Security Administration is giving its highest award – the Commissioner’s Citation – to the Idaho Disability Determinations Service for being one of the nation’s three most productive, efficient and economical state units during the 2008 budget year.
This is 16th Commissioner’s Citation the Idaho Disability Determinations Service has received, and the Social Security Administration’s review of operations during the first half of the 2009 budget year found Idaho again the best among the states.
“The timely, efficient determinations underscore the staff commitment to providing the best service possible to disabled Idahoans at a time they need assistance the most,” Idaho Disability Determinations Service Administrator Nancy Vazquez said.
Idaho processed an average of over 319 cases a week, nearly 51 higher than the national average, and completed processing claims in an average of 62 days, almost three weeks faster than the national average.
The citation will be awarded during a national conference this month in Detroit.
