Hundreds of Bingham County high school students and their parents will have the opportunity this month to explore career paths with people from local businesses, educational institutions, unions and the military.
The fifth annual Bingham County Career Exploration Fair, sponsored by the Idaho Department of Labor, runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 25 at Snake River High School.
The fair gives students the chance to identify career opportunities that interest them and are available in their own communities. In addition $500 scholarships will be awarded to two seniors participating in the event.
Businesses and organizations taking part in the fair include the U.S. Navy, the Idaho National Guard, Carpenters & Millwrights Local 808, the Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, the Community Council of Idaho, State Hospital South, Bingham County Chiropractic, Bingham Memorial Hospital, Bytesize Computer Help, KPVI-TV, MetLife Insurance, Riverside Dental, Idaho Power Co., Blackfoot Police Department, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Gale Lim Construction, Premier Technology, Costco, Fairchild Construction, Heartland Real Estate, Mountain River Engineering, the Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project at the Idaho National Laboratory, the INL, Ellis Chiropractic, Idaho Central Credit Union, the Idaho Department of Labor, Riverbend Communications and DaVita Snake River Dialysis.
Representatives will also be on hand from the University of Phoenix, the University of Idaho, Idaho State University, Paul Mitchell Cosmetology, Utah State University, Weber State University, Vogue Beauty College, College of Massage Therapy, Eastern Idaho Technical College, Idaho State University’s Center for New Directions, Boise State University and the College of Southern Idaho.
