The Idaho Department of Labor Employer Association of Ada County is focusing its 2009 efforts on maximizing employee potential, optimizing diversity and selecting and retaining top talent.
The association has already held one training program this year that addressed how to “right size the right way.”
The partnership of Ada County businesses and the Idaho Department of Labor offices in Meridian and Boise, provides business resources, tools and training to area companies. Its goal is to expand business awareness of best practices, employment regulations and alternative ways to improve operations. Through networking, members of the association try to help each other run more efficient, profitable and effective businesses and build prosperous work forces.
Members receive information tailored to the current business, work force and human resource challenges businesses face. They also receive newsletters every two months that feature articles on current personnel, unemployment, training, labor market information and community employment issues.
The association is currently looking for members to serve on its planning committee and help set the training calendar for the coming year. This committee meets to discuss issues and increase awareness of area work force needs and concerns.
“Businesses and organizations need to be connected and aware of the many information, resources and educational opportunities available to businesses today,” said Ken Wilson, association planning committee coordinator. “In addition to identifying training needs and developing programs, planning committee members have an opportunity to become recognized leaders in the business community.”
